On May 22, just several days before Israel celebrated the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem and the liberation of Judea, Samaria, the Golan, etc. Regavim was honored to spend the morning touring with the pro-Israel Americans for a Safe Israel (AFSI) organization.
Regavim representatives took AFSI to the E1 region, which connects Jerusalem to Ma’ale Adumim. While successive Israeli governments have promised to build in that area for over 20 years thus linking Ma’ale Adumim to the capital, nothing has happened.
However, with that void, Bedouin squatters under the direction of the Palestinian Authority with funds from the European Union (EU) have taken over strategic swaths of land in that area and have set up illegal encampments.
Their goal is to fulfill the 2009, Fayyad Plan and create a de-facto Palestinian State in that area attempting to force Israel to turn strategic parts of Area C over to PA control.
Regavim is adamant in exposing that plan and over the past several years has called on the Civil Administration to take a stand against the illegal squatters, and the illegal EU building. There are currently over 1,500 illegal structures bearing the EU flag throughout Judea and Samaria.
As we explained to AFSI, thanks to our efforts we have seen the Civil Administration in 2016, begin to take action and dismantle illegal EU structures. We are hopeful that trend continues to ensure our mission of safeguarding Israel’s National Lands.
Thank you AFSI for spending time with us! Hope to lead you on another Regavim tour on your next mission to Israel.
